Boker Zinker Urban Trapper Question....

This question is aimed at anyone who owns the urban trapper and had/is using it as an EDC.

First, I am a little biased when it comes to anything Boker, especially Boker +, but I really like everything about this collaboration.

I get that this knife was not meant for any 'hard use' but before I pull the trigger, I am curious to see how durable this knife is as an EDC, and what users have put it through, and how it's held up.

Thanks in advance...

Reminds me of a Cold Steel TiLite 4" without the guard, but seems to spec better. Twice the price too.

I'd try it.

On second thought that flipper trigger looks awfully small.

Definitely helps to use a little wrist to get it to open consistently, and it's thin enough that it cannot be used with fists made of ham. There is a thread about the urban trapper in the Boker subforum. You should check it out.

Is it a good knife, yes, is it the best choice in the price bracket? That depends on your list of priorities. If weight, thickness, Ti, VG10 are at the top of your "needs to have" list then there isn't probably a better choice for the money. It should handle 95% of tasks that you would use a Kershaw Leek for.

From my experiences I'd say it's sturdier than it looks. That said, it's a thin-bladed, thin-handled, super light knife. It's not difficult to feel some flex to it in use, but for most things it's completely fine. After getting used to it the flipper works just fine as well.

All in all, I quite like mine as an ultra thin and light carry option.

I've had my eye on one since they came out. I will definitely end up getting one. I love the blade shape and overall thin profile.

I just got one. The thing is great overall. Good lockup and style etc. The flipper is not an problem unless you have weak finger strength.

Only issues out of box:
Need to oil pivot for smooth opening.
This thing has TONS of lock stick (It has gotten better after like 200-300 openings while watching 2 movies. But it is still sometimes sticky on an open with no wrist. And it is Very sticky if I use any wrist in opening)
Do not touch liner lock bar while opening other wise it makes the detent very high
Flipper needs to be pushed down fast with strength. Not weakly. Or like a simple button. But doable for me easily.

Otherwise it is sexy as hell and very good for EDC tasks.

I have one and it is super sharp. I hate the flipper, and I feel like it would break easily. I think it's a great looking knife, and can be very useful as a light duty knife. I've never even used mine because of how flimsy it feels to me. I EDC a Benchmade Contego so I just prefer a larger blade because I'm a tall guy with huge hands.

You are right about size of this knife. If you have sausage like fingers this thing will be harder to open. I have normal-small hands for a dude (gloves = small/8.5) and this knife is great at that size.

A comment about this.

It looks like after 4 movies's worth of flipping the lock stick on mine has gone down significantly. Now it only sticks if I abuse it by putting a TON of wrist in the opening. But for normal opening it has no lock bar stick.

Another mini update for anyone that sees this. It has gotten even better. And now has almost no lock stick and the lock up stayed sturdy
