I'm looking for a good Boker that won't break the bank. A folder with at least a 3" blade. I have some old traditional slipjoints but would like to try somthing in a newer pattern. Any suggestionswill be greatly appreciated.

Bokers come in three basic flavors, and are actually three separate companies:

Boker Magnums are at the low end and there are dozens of styles. They run in the $20 - $40 range. In general they use very cheap steel, but have some interesting designs.

The next level are the Boker Plus models. They cost from $30 or so to about $125. There are alot of interesting designs in this line. The Chad Los Banos line are all solid knives, and the Elegance series are nice 'Gentleman's' knives. There is a Boker Plus knife called the Exskelimoore that is my 'go to' knife when we eat at a steak house.

The upper tier in boker is the 'Tree Brand' These are the knives that are made in Solingen Germany, and sell in the price range of $150 - Oh My GOD! Depending on what you mean by 'Wont Break the Bank' these might be out of your range. I'd guess that the average tree brand knife sells in the $200 - $300 range, and are VERY nice. They also make some limited production knives that can exceed $1K.

Thanks for the info, KrisOK. I've looked at the Boker plus line and like several. What is the price range for the Exskelimoore?

The Exskelimoore comes in 2 versions, the Exskelimoore I has a 3 1/2" blade and the Exskelimoore II has a 2 3/4" blade. They have wooden handles and come in a couple of different wood types. The one that I take with me to restaurants is the larger of the two. Mine is like the picture below in Maple Burl. It fits right in at a restaurant without being threatening. It cost me right at $100. Boker Plus also makes the same basic style in G10, but calls it the Exskelibur, and these cost less.

Did not know all of that, great info. I was going to recommend the boker plus line, good quality and decent pricing for what you get.

I own many offerings from the Boker Plus line and a few from the Tree Brand line.

I will say that they are WELL worth the money and highly recommended.

I just picked up a Epicenter, which also arrived today.

Let me just say, if someone was to remove the Boker logo and handed it to me and said it was a Rexford Custom, I'd probably believe it without question.

The knife is stellar, uses VG-10 and Full Titanium handles, with about 40% lockup.

The 1st Gens had some issues but mine is flawless with superb fit and finish and no blade play in any direction.

And the kicker.......I paid $102 shipped to my door and IMO you really can't ask for more.

Another I'd highly recommend like a lot of people is the Boker Albatros.

It has a slightly smaller blade but truly feels like a knife that is worth way more than they charge for it.

I have many Mid-Techs and Customs, but I will continue to add Boker knives to my collection.

I really like the look of the Epicenter, Exskelimoore and the Albatros. I will be ordering one of these in the near future for sure! Thanks for all of your comments, they have been really helpful.

The Epicenter is a wicked good knife for the money. Stay away from the first production runs though as the QC was spotty at best, it has tighten up subsequently though. If you decide to go bigger the AK101 is everything an Emerson is for half the price (yay, controversial opinions backed up by wait for it....) I have carried for four years now and it is a dandy ceding pocket time only to the Voyager Large Vaquero or Spyderco Matriarch depending on mood.
