BOLO for a stolen ZT knife ...

On Monday, December 14th, in the Washington DC area, (zip 20032), a package containing a Zero Tolerance 0620, serial number 3055, was stolen from a USPS delivery vehicle, sometime in the early morning (after 8:30 AM). The entire truck was stolen actually, along with all the packages, etc., from what I was told by the Postmaster.

I'm not expecting to ever see this knife again, or for it to be delivered to the person who purchased it from me - I'm sure it's either in someone's pocket, or a pawn shop, by now - but just as an FYI, if you ever do see this particular knife being offered for sale, it is stolen (or at the very least, "ill gotten") property.

Dam!! Real sorry to hear this!
Do you have any recourse at all?

Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do at this point, other than to grumble and vent my frustration :-)

I filed a claim with the USPS, but that could take 30+ days to address. Plus, it was only covered by the default insurance that comes with Priority shipping (my bad!) so even if they approve the claim, I won't recover the full value.

To be honest, I feel worse for the other people impacted by this. It happened on the busiest shipping day of the year (not a coincidence - this was not a random event, I'm guessing this was planned well in advance), so there were probably dozens of gifts, packages, etc., that were never received. I lost what boils-down to a sale .... the customer was already reimbursed, and there will be other sales opportunities.

What irks me the most is that there may be little kids that lost Christmas gifts, notes from Santa, etc. as the result of what some low-life did. If I've learned one thing, it's that karma is real, and whoever did this will pay. It may take weeks, months, even years, but it will happen. I only regret that I will not be there to see the look on that person's face when it does.

They likely stole an entire truck of stuff just to get at the Christmas cards that have cash inside. Most of this stuff will be thrown away, and probably in one pile, meaning there will be a trail. If the perps try to hock anything with a serial number, it will be even easier.

They crazy thing is that the penalty for stealing mail far outweighs the meager "take". There's no getting out of the felony bracket. Absolutely stupid.

Hopefully you put insurance on that. I got screwed on a luminox watch that way. I'm surprised that there's someone ballsey enough to steal that...in DC none the less.

I Came across this thread and like the idea of calling out the person using your stolen knife!

Mine was stolen last night outside the grammy Museum in downtown LA. It was a birthday present, and worth way more than the price tag. Here is the info, if someone comes across it, I would be happy to buy it back no questions asked. Thanks!
