Does anyone know the year or version and/or variation when Model 110 bolster ends went from square edge to round edge? And was that round edge added in two steps, 1) all edges except thumb depression, and then 2) all edges and thumb depression? All I know that it was done after 1980 as I have a .110. with square edges and a ..110.. with all round edges. Thanks.

At the top of this forum is a sticky with a data sheet done by Joe Houser that gives details on the 110 and 112. You should open it up and print it off for a reference.

It was during the 4 dot knife that Buck began to radius the edge.
There were 3 variations of the 4 dot
1st Var: No radius
2nd Var: No radius on thumb depression area, remaining edges radiused by hand.
3rd Var: Full radiused edges. It doesn't say but I'm guessing that for this and all future knives the bolsters molds were changed so no longer done by hand.

Okay. So the information for the 112 also applies to the 110, is that correct? I have the file you mention, but the link between the 112 and 110 models was not clear to me. Thanks.

Yep that and scanned my older version of the data sheet for the 112 and sent it to him. Joe's new one left the 112 off.

So, if any of you Bucksters need that info in printable format, email me and I'll send you an attached .jpeg that you can print.

Got the .jpg file you sent and it helped me pinpoint the knife I want to find. Thanks.

BTW - file is clear and well scanned.

Since were on the date subject, I'd like to pick your brains. What year is a
3 line 110 with a dash on each side of the 110(Buck -110- USA) I don't see it on the sheets

There is a fourth version of the four dot with only the front edge of the front bolster and the rear edge of the rear bolster radiused. These were done by hand to facilitate entry unto the sheath and to reduce wear on the sheath at the rear of the knife. This was the first of the hand radiused knives after the square edge versions.

The four dots with radiused edges all over have frames that were done using a powder metal process. The radaii were incorporated into the powder metal molds to eliminate hand radiusing. Prior knives had cast frames.

Fritz,The double - was a mid year change.Hence they added another - .There are other mid year changes as well.DM
