Was wondering how well bone, horn or antler works for bolsters, and if anyone has pics of finished knives with them, thanks.

The word "bolster" means "to strengthen." This is why metal is commonly used.

Hard woods and natural materials are often used, even though metal is harder and stronger.
On Japanese cutlery, an ebony bolster is common.
On Nordic blades a bolster/guard of walrus or reindeer antler is common.
Composite scales are often made with contrasting woods. Darker on the ends looks better to the eye.

The main thing is to make the bolster strong and well fitted to the blade.
