i lucked into a peice of 440c at work. it's 1/4"x2"x18". i can't stand the thought of putting it on the blanchard to make it thin enough to make the size knives i like. so i either will make a huge bowie or i was thinking i could use it for bolster material. any ideas on weather it would be good for making bolsters? or should i go ahead and make the bowie since i have the big peice of stock? anybody know of a site with lots of bowie pictuers to study?

Actually Chris what you need to do is pack that piece up and just send it on to me. I could study it and send it back in about 20 yrs. or so (grin).

I, uh well gee, cut it up? Couldn't you use short pieces for bolsters? When can we expect pics of the "BIG BOWIE"
