Well at last i decided to suck it up and get to work. So i did what you guys said and what do you know..it worked. the bolsters are even and tightly affixed to my latest project...i wont say it came off without a hitch, but it went much better than i expected. I think ill buy some thinner bolster material tho, this i have seems a bit thick. Thanks to all who advised me on this..i do have yet another question..should you be able to see the bolster pins? I used brass brazing rod and i can see four neat little pins, should i buy different pin stock? Thanks for your help.

It's going to be tough to match brass bolsters with the pins. Brass is all over the place on content and brass bolster material is going to be different content than pin stock - especially brazing rod. You might try hobby store brass and see if that is closer. If you can't get it to match up, switch to 416ss material and 416ss pin stock. You'll only be out a few bucks on the brass but up a great deal in appearance. 416ss is only a buck an inch, pin stock is 25 cents an inch.

some buyers like the brass so it's what you have to use....

I've had good luck buying both the bar stock and the pin stock
from the same outfit to match up..(last time it was TKS)
pin stock is like .50 a foot. if I remember right,
I buy a bunch at a time.:)

Yeah, matching pins can definitely be a pain. Ihad problems with that on one in my avatar, and finally gave up on it, it's sitting bolsterless right now, getting ready to go with micarta instead, ditched teh brass completely(course, ti's been sitting this way for weeks, hopefully I"ll actually ahve time to finish it sometime soon :)
