bolsters

Hi I would like to know if devon thomas or mike norris sell bolsters like for instance if I wanted to get a custom knife made with the blade being mike norris damascus and the bolsters being devon thomas damascus would the smith haft to buy a whole billet to make the bolsters.

Devin sells billets by the inch, I'm sure Mike does the same. Devin's billets run 10 inches and longer, for the most part. If there is enough left over after the knife is made, the maker can use that for bolsters. If I needed to make a 10 inch knife with damascus bolsters, I'd buy at least 13 inches. If the bolsters are a different pattern, I'd have to buy enough of that pattern for bolsters and another knife.
