Does anyone have the Bolus in micarta? I’m wondering if it is as “slick“ feeling as the micarta Lionsteel has on the BestMan and the Shuffler.

It isn’t really an issue for me on those two models, but I think since the Bolus has the full length scales, I’d prefer the micarta to be a little rough finished, so as to be grippier.

I have the stag version, great knife, and am looking at adding the micarta or rams horn version. I’m leaning towards the rams horn as it’ll be rougher than the micarta I’m guessing.

Thanks!

Have you thought about removing the slabs and sanding them a bit to get back to a move grippy feel?

I ordered the rams horn, and found it to be quite smooth feeling. I think if your hand was a bit damp, it’d not provide a good grip. I returned it and went with the G10. That one hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll see how it feels. Some light sanding may be the way to go if it’s too smooth.

G10 can be factory-textured or smooth. Sanding it rougher might work, but not as well as it does with micarta - so if you stll need more texture and want to be extra-suave, get a checkering file!

Lol - you’re assuming I have skills. ;) I’m afraid I’d do a miserable job of it. I would have liked the natural micarta over the g10, but it wasn’t a selection available with the Otnat blade shape. Which I like.

I’m sort of mulling over getting a clip bladed bolus in the natural micarta and swapping them around, and perhaps selling of the clip bladed one with the green g10 on it. We’ll see. Been buying a few knives as of late and am starting to get the raised eyebrow from the wife. :)
