I love the look of these so called "tactical" swords. I already have a Hanwei Tac Wak and love it, and I know the Tac Kat is on the way. I love the look of the Swamp Rat Rodent Waki and the Scrap Yard Scrapizashi and would love to get them as well, but they're still a bit too short for my taste. Are there any custom, or even production, swords out there that have longer blades and with a focus on being very durable? I'll say a 25" and up blade would be cool.
I suppose if I call any of the custom makers up and offer them enough coin, I can get one made up to my specs, but it would be nice to see if there are any current offerings out there. :o

Nothing current, but if you are in to the genre, I'd see if I could advertise for one of the old Criswell katana or maybe one of the old Atrim tactical katana thingies.

Zombietools makes a nice 28" ApoKatana (thats the name). Hell of a blade. Check out their other stuff too.

Angus Trim used to or still does offer a Tactical line you might have a look at those. His direct website is down but you can find info at the following:

if you want I'll send you a pic of something I'm working on for myself (finally) when it's done. S7 is my main sword steel, plus 8670m and 5160

My tactical customers prefer the shorter blades but I find longer blades more graceful, plus I'm 6'3" so the AK47, Scrapizashi, and Rodent look like a big knives to me

Hey, post a pic here William. I'm interested in seeing it too :D

By all means, I'd love to see it!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I like the Wally Hayes designs, and Zombie Tools have been on my radar for a long time now. I like the new Apokatana, but the handle is only seven inches. Too short for a good two handed grip. The Harvester is great looking, but I'm weary of the solid steel handle. A Harvester with a longer Apokatana handle would be great, though.

The Ak 47 from Busse is a bit longer in the blade than the Waki's by either Scrapyard or Swamprat.

There are at least two running around out there with a much longer blade, thicker, and with a blade catch on the top of the blade. One is called the Dragon's Fang (finger grooves on the handle). The other that I have seen does not have the finger grooves. No way you will ever find one though.

I've got a piece I'm working on, but I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to finish it on account of how much stuff I'm juggling right now. Based off of a Swiss baselard. 18" blade. :)
