Bonbe

I always thought that it should have an accent on the 'e', like this: bonbé, and be pronounced 'bon - bey'. But that's just me.

Regardless of pronunciation, I'm a fan.

All the best,

- Mike

The bonbe is a term used to descride any ergonomic lump on the blade of a knife. There are a couple of different ways to go about doing this, and it does not respond well to some heat reatment methods, steels and grinds. I believe that the bonbe is most at home on choppers, although they have their place on little knives too. Rick , as far as I know, is the only resident maker with vast expirience in bonbes. maybe he will chime in.

I'm just shocked that it is never mentioned on any of the "other" knife forums

You guys took a private chatsy term and turned it loose on this forum.

Is nothing sacred???:grumpy:

I really don't know anything about Bonbe, but I think I met Bonbe's sister, Trixie, once.

No fake term fabrications on my watch.
