Hey y'all,
I would like to get away from the wood scales for a while and try to make some bone jig handles. What dye do you use to color your bone? Also I've got some older red deer antlers that have lost there color is there a stain or dye that can bring back the color? Finally what do you use to polish them when your done? Thanks for any info.

Some one just posted a tutorial on dying bone scales (while still attached to a slip joint even!).

Try searching for it, and I bet you find the thread. It is not an old thread.

Potassium permanganate for dyeing.
Sand to 400 grit, buff with 0000 steel wool, and polish with green compound on a loose muslin wheel.
