I was looking up some of the old posts about the Bonecutter and found some great stuff. The only problem is that many of the old pics are lost forever. Or are they?

Here is a link to the Bonecutter Files! Who knew there was a secret cult of Bonecutter lovers and a secret X-File about them? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/542155-The-Bonecutter-Files

Anyway, lets try to showcase this top notch kukri by making a new picture thread! If you can, please post a pic of your Bonecutter and add the size, weight, kami and approx year it was made (or you got it).

Awesome thread! Wish I had a better picture, but this iPhone pic will have to do:

18" OAL, 36 oz., Sgt. Khadka. On the sales thread, it was advertised as satisal, but I'm pretty sure the handle is neem. I bought this last November from a DOTD.

I was going to make a scathing remark and start a GRS cult post (heh), but man Moo's pic is makin' me jones for a BC something fierce.

@ moo:

1) How's the magpul furniture (stock and afg) working for you on the AK?
2) What's the weight of that BC, and how thick is that handle?

My first three khuks ("the Goldilocks method", as previously coined by wrxguyusa),
all blems by the way:

From top:

12" 16oz. GRS/BC by Sher, spine at bolster 5/16", blade 8", total 12.25", bought Sept 2010
16" 33oz. BC by Murali, spine just under 1/2", blade 11.25", total 16.25", bought Sept 2010
20" 40oz. AK by Murali, spine at bolster 1/2", blade 14", total 20.25", bought Sept 2010

Thanks guys! The Bonecutter has to be my favorite model of khuk, hands down.

Qeth:
1) I love the UBR stock. It's weighty, but I think it actually balances the front heaviness of the AK, so the gun feels more neutral overall. I thought I would love the AFG, but it's not as comfortable as I thought. It's only marginally more comfortable than the regular handguard. Although I hate the look of them, I think I might eventually just get a short vertical grip.

2) The BC is 36 oz. and 3/8" thick. The handle is 5" from buttcap to the bottom of the bolster, and is 4.5" around at it's thickest (around the top handle pin), and about 3.5" at it's thinnest (between the grip ring and the bottom handle pin). My hand really just locks into place and stays there, especially with the flared pommel.

That middle 16" specimen would be my ideal GRS/ BC size. How does it chop when compared to an AK of either 15 or 18", or against the 20"?

Couldn't say, I bought it to give to a friend and didn't really use it before sending it off to him. :o

awwww, i helped start a cult? i like making databases of stuff (like on the Becker forum). having had a hand in the HI Bonecutter, i want to see it thrive!

I love that handle moogoo! Yours has more of that Ganga Ram tip than mine.

thing is, a Bonecutter, as per the originals, and most of Sgt Khadkas, should not be pointy like a modern Ganga Ram. not at all. they should be FAT leafy blades, more like a Foxy Folly, but not as pointy. more like the original GRS blades of old. fat! leafy! almost blunt...

here's a shot of the first HI bonecutter that sgt made :)

and here's a comparison of some older blades... top to bottom, a v. large neo-school GRS (25 inches/45 ounces), a 23"/54oz CAK, a 22"/43 classic GRS, and a boring 20"/41 CAK, and finally, the SuperCAK

i like bigs blades and i'll tell you why...

Thanks for the pics Bladite!

The bottom kukri is fantastic! Any idea who made it? Very nice handle...

Also, what is the third kukri down?

top to bottom: YCS with inlays, standard GRS (less pointy than some too - nice), a samsher (khadka? no marks, usually him), and a Praj bonecutter

yup, the bottom khurki IS fantastic. it's why i wanted a bonecutter for so long, darn that HollowDweller guy. well, HI made some :) have two (16 and 18) :> wouldn't mind other sizes someday.
