I haven't had a chance to do much with her yet, seeing as she arrived last night, but I did take some naughty pics of her and Betty snuggling on the bed...

And some cheeky shots with Mary, as well.

The wood almost matches...I guess Mary needs some tung...

I wanna make friends with that rifle. I wanna buy it a beer. I want it to call me when it's sad and scared, and I wanna tell it everything will be okay. I wanna bring it home and introduce it to my parents.

...okay, enough of that. Is it Springfield or Fulton?
There's only one thing wrong with the whole Gestalt here. That rifle needs a 1911 to go with it. For a Hi-Power I think you'd need an FN-FAL. Those are some lovely kaboom sticks you got, though.

The khuk is nice, too of course. How do you like the bonecutter compared to other designs?

Springfield - Fulton is too $$$. This is the standard model with walnut.
I have had 4 1911s over the years and it will always be my gun, but I have never had one as reliable as my high-power. I can't say why. The HP is really just an improved 1911 (in terms of JB's design work) so I consider them both American classics.
But personal likes don't matter when it comes to self-defense guns. It HAS to be reliable.
The HP have never jammed on me once.

With a Garand, a 1911 is required.
With an M1A, I think the high-power is perfectly mated.
(smaller rounds, more capacity, etc..)

All I have done with the bonecutter is play with it so far. It is very pretty. Nicely made and fitted well. I think my hands are a little fat for it, though. The ring is very sharp and needs to be sanded a bit.

I notice that any khuk that I've held onto for any length of time needed the handle flattened to give it a more elliptical cross section. Of course, my hands are a bit small for a guy my size.
Does your HP have the magazine disconnect safety?
I concur about reliability. The ability to shoot palm sized groups at 25 yards is more than enough for any defensive handgun, because it'll never need to be deployed beyond 7 yards, and more likely will be deployed at 1 yard. As such, just about any milspec handgun should do the trick.
I'm surprised you've never found a reliable 1911. I hear the old Colt series 70 were quite reliable (though the series 80 not so much). I've never had and reliability issues with my Kimber, but I've also never done much more with it than steel plate matches (although there was this glorious day when I went to a concealed carry class with a friend of mine and outshot the instructor using my Kimber).
What kinds of 1911s did you own? Also, is that an FN HP?

Colt 1911A1, Auto Ordinance Ranger (POS!) Essex Surplus 1911...cant remember the other one.. I guess once bitten ,twice shy..
The HP is an FN MKIII with the SFS. I wanted the standard hammer, but 6 0f one, half dozen of the other...

Nice pictures Danny.

Had three .45acp's: Colt Series 70 Govt Model; Colt Series 80 Combat Govt Model (a variation on the standard Govt model) ; and my all favourite, Remington Rand 1942 1911A1.

I like the matching of the 1911 and Garand, Hi-Power and FN-FAL, but the M1A and a S&W Model 39 is more in tune with the Gestalt of the period. ;)

I'm a big fan of both the 1911 and the Browing HP, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the Hi-Power.

I have a couple of 1911s and a BHP. I'm working on building an AR now. The next thing on the list, either next year or the one after that, will be the M1A. I don't know what it is, but the M1A has always called to me.

Danny, is your Hi-Power one of the SFS models? If so, how do you like it compared to the normal single action?

I never much cared for Smith and Wesson autos. The local police department issued the 66 up until ~1990, then went to the 4046 (DAO, no safety, .40 S&W chambering). My dad got both of his old service pistols after they switched again to the M&P (which the officers unilaterally agree is a demon).
That 66 is smooth and silky and accurate. Every time I pick it up I wanna carry it concealed. But that 4046 is heavy and clunky and the trigger is exceedingly long and heavy. It's accurate, but just not particularly lively in the hand.

nice pics hp always fit my hand great any one looking try to get it made and assembled in belgium.used to win money with my ist one . we called the rifle m14 in 1963.

Well, the civilian version is the semi-auto-only M1A. (and basically, the military one too, seeing as full-auto is kind of a wasteful use of the M14)
The SFS, in function, basically works identically to a regular single-action HP, so as far as I can tell, there is no difference except for the odd-looking hammer.
You hit the safety and the gun shoots. Hit it again, it doesn't shoot.
You know, nothing special happening...

Since we're showing off our rifles...

This is an Israeli light-barrel FAL built on an Entreprise Arms 'Israel Match' receiver. I swap back and forth between standard Israeli furniture and British SLR wood handguards.

Ok, now that some has mentioned my all-time favourite rifle, I can say that after being lucky to get the chance to shoot a full magazine though a R.A.A.F. L1A1, I was in the process of purchasing the Small Arms Factory, Lithgow made version for shooting in the Military Weapons Match when they were banned by my state government.:(

But if I could choose but one rifle to have, it would be based on the FN-FAL!
