Looks like satin/black canvas to me. It's pretty but I'm still waiting for the Blue/Black G10 flavor!

Hey Skunk, how did you make your sheath like that? What was the process? That came out awesome!

i ran some warm tap water in the center of it and soaked it all the way through, inside and out. then i stuck the knife in to where it was supposed to be,

i used a sharpie and molded the sheath to the knife, both sides.

i set it in the sun for a couple of hours then removed the knife

i used my fingers to make sure everything was still good and tight after pulling the knife out, kind of returning it to the knife in shape or tighter.

then let it dry over an air vent or just leave it in the sun, no hairdryer, no oven, no hot heat for 24 hours or till crispy dry.

as for the knife, i personally did not put anything on the metal but i would suggest maybe some wd-40 or gun oil for the folks who are worried.

after the sheath is dry i put on some leather conditioner of any sort but not to saturate and make soggy soft.

If I read correctly, he soaked the sheath until nearly dripping wet, used a sharpie to "trace" around the knife until it was molded, and let dry, then possibly a water-repellant oil or wax to finish, am I correct Skunk? Very well done, and I am considering this once my sheath from you and SAR3 from Javadog arrive.

Looks like Skunk and I were posting at the same time.

that's correct! just make sure that your boner is very smooth so you don't scar or scrape the leather. pros use the tips of antlers for boning.

just ask any bull elk or mulie, they'll tell you!

Thanks Skunk! I was wondering myself how it's done! Think I'll try it! Yours look great. I have some handgun sheaths that are overly tight I may be able to loosen a little!

thanks! has anybody boned a black one?

.

They say you aren't a true Texan until you do... ;)

I don't take any chances so I've boned several... and plan on boning some more!

Boned one for a BAD the other day...It was good. :D
