@Jerry Busse

Did you have a higher than normal warranty rate with the BAD's or Scrapivore LE's?

I know they were ran a but harder, ground a bit thinner and I was curious if they were pushed a bit too hard, thus rendering the higher hardness not worth continuing production...

Any input would be Greatly appreciated.

With the smaller knives (mini MS, BGAD, et al) being made for OP2W, I would think that a higher hardness INFI or SR-101 EDC blade would be Highly sought after.

Anyone else interested in a higher hardness EDC sized INFI or SR-101 Busse?

Absolutely, my three favorite EDC's are my CABS, BAD & my modded full height flat grind MrS.

Not necessarily in that order

The BAD holds an edge like nobody's business, the modded MrS is a fine slicer and I love the ergonomics of the handles. The CABS being choiless and thinner makes it my go to bushcraft/camping choice. The best of both worlds for me would be a Boney, Choiless MrS.

FYI, I believe that ALL Scrapivores were run at the higher hardness, not just the LE's. However, they were SR-101, and not INFI.

You might need to do some digging to fully confirm that, but my recollection was they ran all scrapivores harder. I know the specs for the 2014 Bronze "Garth Edition" showed the higher hardness: LINK (#24)

And BTW, I'm also pretty sure the LE's were not INFI, but satin SR-101. Might need to dig to confirm that too.

Edit: LE's were SR-101 according to Dan's post at the Yard.

Edit #2: For some reasons though, it seems like I remember the CG's might have only been 60-62 HRC vs. the 62-64 HRC of the LE's (and what the Garth edition shows). Still harder than the standard 58-60.

Final Edit: Here's some commentary regarding the hardness on the CG's, and why there may be confusion over whether they were 60-62 or 62-64. At this point, I think only Jerry or Dan could really provide a definitive answer. Good luck!

The scrapivores are a very nice sharp, compact, slicing machine.

LOL, we both did some editing to our posts... :D

All I can tell you is that I have Scrapivores in Pink, Red, Orange, Black, Brown, Bronze, and Hammered Silver. They ALL sharpen like they're harder than 58-60, but I can't say whether it's 60-62 or 62-64.

Yea, we must have been editing around the same time last night. I edited them since I didn't want more misinformation being spread about something that already has some questions surrounding it.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the help and steering.

High RC for teh win! Small knives certainly benefit from toughness, but I don't plan on using small knives to do anything but cut and slice. And for that I would far and away prefer edge retention at lower angles to any other characteristic.

it is highly unlikely that you will get an answer to this question. The Shop only rarely reveals any of the inner workings.
