Is everyone ready for the rain?? Hopefully it will only be rain. Don't forget to stock up on bullets, toliet paper, and sharp knives!!
Now is the time to buy that cool LED flashlight you always wanted. :)
Be careful, and be safe!

The next week here is supposed to be rain and thunder. I love thunder, but I hate having bad weather for a whole week. Especially on my summer :D! Oh well. Good luck to you guys down there! Stay safe.

Had my fill of that crap w/ Isabel back in September.
We got REALLY lucky, but the storm still knocked out power for over a week in some places here. Had it been the storm we could/should have gotten, it would have been really bad.
Good luck to those on the Gulf Coast.

We just had a half hour rain storm, a brownout, and the phone died. I do not look forward to real bad weather, especially with no internet to keep me company.

Stay dry!

Retirement is great! Instead of spending the night at the Alabama Power Company storm center, waiting to dispatch line crews to Florida and to L.A., I can surf the knife talk and go to bed.

I think I'll be doing some hand sanding and filework this weekend cause I doubt we'll have any power. And no computer( hurricanes suck) Dave :grumpy:

Damn glad I live in Illinois.

Now, THAT'S something you don't hear people say that often, what with our current bunch of idiot politicians running the place.

Hurricanes are one of the few things I don't miss about living in the South (that and the mosquitos and humidity)...not to say I didn't trade one set of problems for another out here in sunny SoCal, namely earthquakes and fires

Bad weather all next week? Uh oh, that's bad news. I'm flying into Washington next Friday (Aug. 20). Let's hope that the storms have blown themselves out by then.

Anyone figure the National Weather Service missed an opportunity when they didn't name this pair "Bonnie & Clyde" ?? ;)

Well I am sitting here in Tallahassee where we were supposed to get nailed by Bonnieand we got nothing. Oh yeah it rained this morning but the storm wasn't supposed to hit us until noon or so and it has been getting clearer and dryer since 11am. Disaster was forecast, government servers were shut down and we get missed entirely. Sorry if I sound disappointed but I love storms and I get annoyed cuz every time one is forecast to be big and bad it fizzles completely. Sorry for any of ya who do get seriously dumped on or blown out. Be safe but I am keeping my fingers crossed and hopng Charlie makes a better showing.

I hope everyone who is in the path of the hurricane is getting prepared. My husband and I are 20 miles west of Jacksonville. The weather man just said that we are positioned to get the worst of the storm (upper right quadrant) where the tornados are most prevalent. They just upgraded it to a category 4 (same as Andrew). :( We put plywood on most of our windows and have collected all of our emergency necessities. We even went so far as to call our insurers to make sure everythings covered. They've declared a state of emergency in our area. I pray that this storm passes through with minimal damage to all. I grew up in Florida so I'm aware just enough to be very worried. Good luck everyone. There's nothing left to do but pray. :(

BTW, if you're North of us and are still collecting necessities make sure to grab D batteries asap. There isn't any D batteries in any stores in our area. They all sold out first thing this morning. Hopefully we have just enough.

Here's what Bonnie brought to Jacksonville yesterday. http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/081304/met_16352618.shtml We have a big oak tree in our front yard just like the one in the article. :(

Jsmatos, will be thinking of you and I know how you feel. Charley will hit our coast as it goes north. Tropical storms are predicted for tommorow. I hate these hurricane systems too. :( Everybody in SC ready? I doubt North Carolina is immune either. Take care all and stay safe. Cavelady

Heh... Didn't see this thread and posted another. I'm in Sarasota and we're getting ready for a tough one. Take it easy.

Hang on tightly and don't do anything stupid! When I lived in Gulfport, MS back in the early 80's, I went through a pretty bad hurricane (I don't remember its' "name"), and it wasn't much fun.

Well... I've never done so much preparation for rain. That's about all we got. We did get a few gusts about 40 knots or so, but that was the worst of it. We got away unscathed. Whew.

Hope everyone else here fared as well. And thanks for the kind thoughts/wishes.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Yesterday my husband said, "I'll be really pissed if we worked so hard and nothing happens." :D I replied, "Oh I see, so what you're saying is you want us to get hit just enough to validate all of this preparation but not enough to cause us any damage." He answered, "Yeah exactly." :D It turned out that the storm turned southeast and completely missed us. I woke up last night at 3:00 (the time we were told it would hit) and it was completely silent. I didn't realize that my house could be that quiet. :D Anyhow, I'm not disappointed. I'm looking at all of the damage that Charley caused and I feel terrible for all of the people who sustained damage (even death in some circumstances). Mother nature always has the last word when she wants it. :( I hope and pray everyone here at BFC came out okay.

Cindy, we're praying for you guys in South Carolina. Hopefully, Florida damaged its strength as it was damaging everything in its path. :( Good luck and keep us informed. :)
