Bonus holes in my scales?

I took my small box elder burl 21 apart a couple nights ago for cleaning and noticed a few more holes in the scales that aren't there on a 21 without inlays.
Anyone know what these are for?
I'm sure there's a reason, I'm just curious as to what it is.
If I get a minute I'll take it apart at lunch and post a pic of the inside of the scales, but in the mean time you can see the holes in question in the pic below.
The larger hole on the left is the lanyard hole, and you can't see the hole that's usually on a 21's handled in this pic.
The smaller holes to the left and right of the standoff are the ones I'm talking about.
There's one on the lock side scale, too.

 
Could be for the inlays; Perhaps to help remove them if there is an issue. That would be the only reason I can think of at the moment.
 
That would make sense.
I initially noticed them because you can see the back of the inlays through them.
 
I remember reading from an old thread that all inlaid sebenzas have this extra holes. Can't confirm right now as I don't have a 21 with me today... Will see when I get home...

My inlayed models do not have these extra holes. I think it's a recent change. I could see how it would help pop an inlay out if there was a warranty issue.
 
I think I remembering reading that they have to do with the manufacturing process...
I will see if I can find the thread it was a couple years back at least.

I recall it was for the production process. It may make it easier to also remove inlays. My 2015 large insigno micarta has this too. I cant find the email crk sent me.
 
This is an interesting finding, as my April 2014 Micarta Sebenza did not have these holes. I'll be curious if my custom order Damascus Micarta, soon to be made, will have these holes.
 
Just received a brand new large sebenza 21 with macarta, birth date September 2015 and it also has the extra holes behind the inlays.

What it at the end of the hole?
It doesn't look like wood - shouldn't it be a double sided adhesive tape?

Didn't think to check that. Next time I take it apart I'll see if it's sticky.
