A couple of months I've read a thread on a forum about lightweight hiking, and someone mentioned a book from the 50's where someone described a hiking kit made mostly with canvas (tent/pack/clothing etc. I guess) of about 20lbs/10kg.
I can't find the thread anymore however. Also don't know anymore which forum it was (here, knifeforums, outdoors-magazine, bushcraftuk etc.)
I've searched all those forums for 'canvas' but can't find this thread anymore.
Does anyone here know which book this might have been?
Thanks

The books mentioned are likely refering to "Nessmuk" And
"Townsend Whelan" authors from the period of 1900-1920's.

Horace Kepahrt. Camping and Woodcraft. Great book. Written before plastic and nylon, although they make some things much easier. He gives a nice little list. even includes weight to the ounce.
