Has anyone read a really good book on tips for "urban survival" with topics such as martial law, natural disasters, etc.

Also, has anyone read the classic The Art of War by Sun Tsu? Something I think will address being mentally prepared for battle?

I've read most of the Art of War. I was probably too young to fully understand the conventions used by Sun Tsu but i did make an impression on me. I'm not sure it would be a great preparation for battle per se. More of a strategic out-think-your-adversary type guide.

The SAS Urban Survival Handbook: How to Protect Yourself from Domestic Accidents, Muggings, Burglary and Attack
Is OK
Nothing groundbreaking

When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff You Need To Survive When Disaster Strikes
Is OK
Again, nothing groundbreaking

I stoped buying survival books a few years back
I can find the same information on The Net, for free:)

Skip The Art of War:o
Go right to The Prince
and/or The 33 Strategies of War by Robert Greene

Some of the military manuals are decent reads:
FM 3-05.70 SURVIVAL
AF Manual 64-4 Survival USAF July 1985
SURVIVAL,EVASION,AND RECOVERY
Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain (MOUT)

Irrespective of your intended (or indeed unintended) location, Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales is a compelling and highly informative read.

you get a pretty good classical perspective by geographic location
Macciavelli..the Prince
Carl von Clausewicz..On War
Sun Tzu... On War... and its adaptions by Mao and Ho Chi Minh/Vo Nguyen Giap
T.E. Lawrence... Seven Pillars of Wisdom
Charles W. Thayer... Guerilla
most of these are on the required reading at the Command and General Staff School

and as kycolonel commented the Katrina read should be required if you live in a Gulf state
