Book Recommendation: The Dog Stars by Peter Heller

I just read a novel by Peter Heller, The Dog Stars. Heller is an outdoor/adventure writer for Outside and Men's Journal. This is his first novel. It's set in Colorado after a flu pandemic has wiped out most of humanity and who's left is "not nice." The main character is a fly fisherman, big game hunter, dog lover, and private pilot. The novel is like a Hemingway-esque post apocalyptic tale, naturalist journal, and bush pilot tale. It is very well-written and will strike a chord with outdoorsmen. I couldn't put it down.

Just finished it and really enjoyed it.
SHTF story that dosen't rely on zombies in the plot.
The emotional toll paid by survivors is played out well also.
