Book recommendation?

I am looking to get started in this hobby. Is there a book recommendation that you might suggest? I have read the stickies and watched a few videos.

Also, is there somewhere to get generic sheath patterns?

I'd recommend any of the Al Stholman books that Tandy has. The holster book has a section on pattern making thats pretty applicable to knives as well. I don't know of any pattern packs for sheaths.

This will walk you through the making of a pouch style pattern. Generic patterns are okay, but JUST okay. The fit is nearly always hit or miss and mostly miss. I find it's better to make a pattern for each individual knife for every sheath I do.

I was looking online at the Tandy books but was unsure it was a good choice.

I have read through some of the stickies. I'm excited to try making my first. I thought there might be a book/manual that you experts used as a first read.

Ps Paul. Kerrville is a great place. I've spent some time in Junction and Comfort when younger. Hope you are staying dry right now.
