O.K. - Since I haven't finished the book yet I can't give a review, but by posting here it will force me to finish the book and tell all of you my thoughts on it. The fitness skills thread got me thinking about it and I wasn't happy with my own level of fitness on a two week trip last fall into the backcountry of Wyoming. So I have decided to increase my outdoor fitness level since it is such an important component of wilderness survival. I'll let you know how it goes, both the book and my fitness.

If you're talking about Steve Ilg's book, that was my training bible back in the late 80's and early 90's. Great stuff.

I had been weight training and running at home. I recently joined a gym and the access to the machines is great. I still haven't reached the fitness level I desire. I was in the best shape of my life years ago when I jumped rope at a very quick pace for 1 hour. I may forget about the gym and go back to an Everlast leather jump rope.
