Where's Bookie lately. He's been kind of quiet lately.

Please check in and let us know my muzzle stuffer builder is ok.

Yeah, I haven't seen any of that squiggly writing from him lately either. Hopfully he is just busy with projects.

Thanks Gehazi! Im hoping Tirtha will make a few of them short ones to fill the gap in my collection. I wonder if he's working yet?

Speaking of Avatar +1 for ndog's and I just noticed Bawanna went back to the source.

Yeah I thought Auntie was waaaay cuter than the soldier. I love that picture.

Just got an email response from Bookie. He's doing fine just really busy. About caught up sounds like and he said he'd be back to harass us soon. Didn't say if he planned to harass us all or me specifically so we can only hope.

Thanks sno! One of them babies went off on a secret adventure this morning so I had to get a pic before she departed:D

Yeah that pic with Aunti and his new 25" Siru is a classy photo for sure:thumbup:

Still no news of Bookie :-(

As for Bawanna Avatar - it needs a bit of cropping to make both characters more visible. I thought he was holding a shotgun to protect his mother or something.

Joke aside Bawanna, post it full size here and I'll fix it for you as I did with the previous one.

Well you rock dude but you know the ole saying give a man a goat and he'll eat for a day but teach him how to catch goats, wait.

I got that all screwed up.

Teach a man to ride a horse and he'll eat, naw that ain't right neither.

Hmmmm. Teach a man to drink beer all day and he'll know how to fish. That's probably close.

Let me give this cropping stuff a go and see if I can make it work. Don't run off, might need ya, I'm cyber challenged ya know?

Well it's a little better, anything you recommend to improve on that. I hope I got the original picture someplace I think when I saved this version it overrode the original. I'll figure it out.

Bawanna, I knowed you was up to something devious when I opened this up and saw my name in print. Truth of the matter is that I've been busy! Yep. Believe it 'er not, Bookie bin busy. Been tracking down the elusive yeller stuff that sometimes allows me to buy silly little things like khukurii, 12" telescopes with computers built into them, and etc.

Veteran's thingys have been eating into my time here lately and it's slowing down for a while now, thank goodness. It was even eating into my squiggly writin' time, too! So, now I'm back and whachu gonna do about it, bucko? (Insert insane demonical laughter here)
Hugs, Bookie

Dang dude! You got another kind a fevah! Welcome back Bookie! HIKV and Yella Fevah do go hand in hand!

ndoghouse, I was telling Bawanna that I did some chopping experimenting Sunday with a 15" oal khukuri. One dead red elm limb that was 5-6" in diameter, one dead red elm trunk that was 10" and one stump that was 8" u from the ground and about a foot in diameter. Red elm is about as hard as dried oak. The stump was taken to ground level in about 7 minutes. This was some serious chopping going on. Was well pleased with the sharpness of my blade when it was all over. Very, very minimal steeling with the chakmak.

Glad you had a chance to play! I had a 15" AK by Rajkumar and busted up a big pile of oak firewood once for a test. I even split some 8" stuff with it. They are very capable. I think a 17 or 18" AK would be really fine. I have another Khuk from another company that didnt survive that same test.

bookie has gold bearing rivers and a working forge-- envy meter going way up

I used to go panning with my grandpa long long ago, it was a blast. We had a cabin on the Skykomish River for many years until it got took out by a flood. Had a lot of good times up there and only an hour from home too.

We'd work the rivers and he also got into metal detecting. We'd find old miners shacks etc and look for their can dumps. Route around for old bottles and stuff. Found a lot too. It was a lot of fun.

Still have the panning set up he made me, a box with 3 pans and the accoutrements. Magnifying glass, tweezers etc.
Being color blind, I always had a tough time of it but it was fun anyhow. Obviously I didn't become independently wealthy, not by a long stretch.

Bawanna, You are mistaking the financial bit for the wealth. In reality the wealth of that time is still with you. Every time you see the box or think of the cabin. That my friend is what real wealth is.

though if your poor color confused eyes could have been able to tell gold from lead then mayhap you would be hip deep in HI khuks instead of only knee deep. But just think. All those sharp edges might have cut into something important if you stacked em that deep. You ar probably better off this way.

Oh, totally agreed. Memories are priceless. Gold is well.......just helpful in a materialistic meaningless way that I'd love to experience a lot more so I can share my thoughts about being rich for scientific purposes of course.

I too would like to apply for a grant so we can test what it is like to be filthy rich instead of eating beans and rice so we can buy more knives-- bawanna is on to something with this "scientific purposes" thing
