My French friend Guillaume Morel has put together a wonderful new site about balisongs and it's even in english. There's still the odd "construction detour", but it's really looking good. This high point is a picture of the oldest balisong that I am aware of.

The url is http://www.balisong.net

What an excellent new site. I've been trying to pursuade him to join our discussions here, but I think that the language barrier takes him extra time. Anyway, be sure to check out his new site.

Dear readers, if you can take time to complete the survey in the "fashion" section of balisong.net, I'd love to see what the preferences of the actual balisong community are !

I'll add other questions to the survey, and update the actual statistics with the replies I forgot to mention (and put in "other" answers).

For instance, I'd like to ask "what is your favourite blade metal ?" but as I don't know enough about that point, if you can help and give me the main common replies, it'd be a great help...

If you find translation mistakes, feel free to correct me, so the site will be better.

Nice site with lots of info. I'll be spending some time there.

Very good looking site. Very neat and straight forward. Some good information too. Excellent work, Mr. Morel!

Very cool site, Guillaume! I like the the idea of the "fashion" section of the site.
It's really interesting to see which bali
styles are more preferred.

Great site! You have it set up very well, and has a nice overall look to it. Keep up the good work!

Great site! Time to get the 'training pencil' out of the drawer!!!!

Terrific start up!!! I'm the only one so far that has voted for the horn inserts. Guess it takes a Missouri boy!

Thanks for your work.

Kind regards,

Sniperboy,

I took this pictures years ago... it was in the middle of the French country, I was still a teenager, and during a kind of picnic where I was playing with my balisong, 2 or 3 butterflies came. And they were very friendly :-)
I immediately thought it would be great to associate the animal and the knife, and took a photo with the only poor camera we had (that's why I prefered to desaturate the pix). Recently I tried to do it again with a pro camera and a Benchmade (not my old Herbertz) and I didn't manage !!! the other butterflies I met until now have always been to shy :-(

I don't think this Herbetz is still available, unfortunately.
Else I would buy another one, to have a pair :-)
Herbertz replaced his models by the one which looks like the Jaguar (well, is exactly the same that the Jaguar except the logo)
