I am an avid fly fisherman. It is a sport with a very rich literary history. It's always easy to find something interesting to read on the subject and there are a multitude of books considered classics or "must read" items for the burgeoning fly fisherman.

I haven't heard or seen much on the subject on the various knife boards however. Are there any "must read" books for the knife nut?

Yes, in fact I can recommend a knife book. Try Chad Ward's : An edge in the kitchen."
Even though I've got a 100 folders lying around my most used knives are kitchen knives.
Even if you are not into kitchen knives mr. Ward has something useful to say about angles and grinding.

There are a number of books about or co-authored by Bob Loveless:
Living on the Edge: Logos of the Loveless Legend
How to make Knives ( just received a '77 vintage copy today)
R.W. Loveless by Luigi Peppini (a coffee table book really)

Another one I have and enjoy is The Keen Edge of Perfection about Morseth knives. This book is interesting because it is just as much about the people as the knives.

Beyond that there are a number of how-to books that can be found; do a search on Amazon.

David Boynes book on knifemaking really got me started; years ago. It's still a good read.

Thank you guys. That's enough to get me started. I already subscribe to the magazines.

Rev, that book sounds great but the price is a little steep. Ono's right, maybe it should come with a complimentary folder to sweeten the deal.

I own copies of Greg Walker's Battle Blades and Bill Bagwell's Bowies, Big Knives and the best of Battle Blades. Two excellent titles.

The Walker book is out of print I suspect but no doubt used copies can still be found online.
