Would someone recommend a few good books about axes for someone who knows next to nothing about them?

Myself qualify as a 'become-old geezer' with regard to electronic 'cut & paste' etc and using the Search feature on here, but there are (and have been) numerous tool and axe books recommended on this forum over the past few years.
Don't be shy, ask lots of questions and above all do remember that 'patience is a virtue'
If it's a "Golden Oldie" you really want and there is not much money at stake ($5-10 investment) and it's not bent all out of shape (the steel head) and providentially bears a "maker's stamp" then by all means 'take the plunge' and bring 'the old girl' home. "Dead simple" metal implements invoke nostalgia and if learning to use and maintain one of these 'does it for you' then gas engine noise in and around the wood pile will diminish considerably. Determinedly splitting wood with an axe at -20F is a lovely way to enjoy the outdoors, a perfect way to stay warm, and a means to cut down on the heat bill.

I just got "The Ax Book: The lore and science of the woodcutter", and it's awesome. Highly recommended.
