Books

Thanks for the input gents. And M3, the heads up on the thread has been great and most helpful.

Along with expanding my tool collection I'm trying to fill in some gaps on the book shelves

Firearms, Traps, and Tools of the Mountain Men, by Carl P. Russell, has a couple of good chapters on axes and related steely subjects. Eric Sloane's A Museum of Early American Tools has less about axes than I'd remembered, but what there is is choice.
