These came last night. They all came in black LE boxes and also came with a wooden display case with a glass top. I really like the burlwood in two of them, the dark wood not so much. I'd have preferred that they left off the black etching on the blades, but I really like the barehead design. Strange that the anvil on the tang of the bottom one is facing in the opposite direction than the other two. In fact, it's tang stamp is smaller than the other two.

Those are great Plum, I really like em:thumbup: I agree with the block writing on them, the fair chase isnt so bad. I remember some conversation about the orientation of the anvil and thought it was custom or not custom. I brought it up a while ago but it didnt jive. Dont understand why all being customs dont match? Does it indicate a particular era/date I wonder?

Those are sweet Dave, man that burlwood is some great stuff!Does the black etching on those blades come off if you wanted to remove it? Also wondering, would doing so harm the collector value? That burlwood is on my gotta get one list for sure.:D

That's a really nice set, Dave... ... They just need some Gold Etching... ... I don't like the black stamp/etching... :thumbdn: .... Sorry... ... The handles are Beautiful... ... ITE

No need to be sorry! I don't like black etching either. It adds a cheap look to an otherwise rich looking knife in my opinion. Of course, I knew what they were when I bought them, so I can't complain.:)

Very Nice trio Dave!!!! Congrats on your acquisition....the Burlwood, is
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regards Sonny

Billboard blades!

Can't stand'em!!!

Why do they do that?

The wood is nice except for the last one (which looks like somebody barfed up a slab).

One is maple burl, IIRC. There's box elder burl and the dark one is redwood. I'd have to see the knife in person, but I would think the redwood would have a nice rich deep red.

Nice knives in any case. Gold etch would have given the set a richer look.

I also vote to take the black stuff off. Would look a lot better with the blades buffed.

Wolf,

Ive got these knives and you are exactly right in my opinion. The redwood burl is beautiful. It is my favorite of the three. The three knives are maple burl, elderwood burl and redwood burl. Burl occurrs when the wood is stressed. It makes nice knife scales.

I think they are all beautiful! Those knives have some awesome wood handles!

Thanks for sharing the pics Dave!
