Hey everyone,

Got a new knife in the mail today. Boos Blades Smoke in CF. Wish I hadn't hesitated and snagged a blue one, but I like the gray as well. Never had a front flipper so still getting used to it, but the action is nice and the blade is centered. So much lighter than any of my other knives. Not sure if my lockup is good or not seems to be good, maybe someone can give some input. Here are some pics.. enjoy!

Thank you, I agree. Unfortunately after an hour or so of just opening and closing it, the blade has gone way off center. From what I can tell the pivot just needs to be tightened up as it loosens easily from repeated movement. I don't have a set of torx drivers at home, so looking into buying a decent wiha set for times like this.

Many WE-manufactured knives do this. The pivot has no thread locker. Use some blue Loctite or your favorite thread locker and adjust the pivot to your liking. That should take care of it.

I’ve loved the Smoke since I got the TM1, and I think I like the CM1 even more. It’s lighter and better balanced, and the CF show scale has a nicer texture and a little more grip than the titanium version. I’m still not sure which I like better for the appearance. I think I’m used to seeing this design in all Ti. The look of the CF scale isn't as in keeping with the design to my eyes as it wod have been, if I’d not gotten used to the Ti version first.

It’s a great design well executed. Light and easy to carry for such a long blade, and I love the front flipper action.

Your lockup looks great to me. Highly recommend getting some Wiha, Wera or Bondhus torx wrenches. They make all the difference in not stripping the drive recesses of screws.

Congrats on the awesome knife. I am a huge front flipper fan and would like to get one of these some day. (Let me know if you get tired of yours and want to trade ;) )

Thanks guys. Ordered a set of Wiha interchangeable bit torx drivers last night and a blue Loctite stick ala the one recommended on Nick Shabazz's youtube channel. Should be here around Thursday we'll see how that helps. By the way if you do happen to see this Nick, thanks for the disassembly video on your smoke, it helped me diagnose the issue on mine!

Also thanks to JimMD, who made it easier on me than having to research for an hour on youtube last night of how to fix my issue. He made it easy for me and I chose the hard way anyways lol.

I like the Tm1. I don't use it much anymore but it's a fun knife.

I wanted one in cf when they were teasing the thought of having it. But I'm kinda glad I didn't get it. The cf looks lifeless. Much like the real Steel Megalodon I have too. Plus it's already a super light knife to begin with.

The front flipper just takes practice for most folks. I never had an issue with front flippers so it wasn't an issue for me. I had to practice alot to finger flick it open though.

Hey guys just wanted to give a heads up. Anyone who missed out on the boos blades smoke in cf from blade hq there is one available again in green. Thought about buying it myself but I figured I was only buying it to sell it or my current one so I'll just keep the grey one I have. Now if it was in blue.. but anyways anyone who is sad they missed out there is one available as of 1/28/19.

Good luck!

Lockup looks fine. As long as it doesn't shift under static pressure, I think it's most likely good to go.

Lockup percentage/timing doesn't really matter much because the lock isn't locking up along its entire surface, but rather on a tiny point at the outside leading corner of the lock insert. As long as it's not slipping, there's no issue.

I got the real steel metamorph to test the waters on front flippers, and it has grown on me over the past few weeks. That Boos knife looks really awesome. I might have to get one down the line!
