Just qurious -- does anyone carries his(or her) knife in the boot?
Most interested in civilians' expirience.
Thanks beforehand!

If your boots are worn outside your pant legs, boot carry is practical.Otherwise, its not practical.

As a deep cover carry, inside pants leg still works, but access is difficult.

Boot carry only works on thin leather boots - combat or cowboy boots (neither are very common in my part of the country). Th only boots I ever wear are short hikers or 10" work boots with a thick padded collar. Neither will accept a sheath clip.

The CRKT Polkowski companion works very well in boot carry. The large clip makes it perfect for boots with padded collars.

It's about as practical as a backup pistol carried on the ankle

I have found boot carry only slow to draw and with the original factory sheaths they often have weak clips that makes the knife easy to drop by accident. I have a Cold Steel Peace keeper with a fast draw concealex sheath and with a plastic clip, but i never carry it in the boots. I carry it insteadly inside the pants way. The original design for boot carry knives was from the US cavalerists who worn high riding boots which reached up over the knees. In that position the knife was easy to draw, because it was riding so high.
If you use a knife for self defence and you have the need to draw it,then you have to get down on your knees, clearly pointing your head forward with the arms defenceles grasping after the knife. In that position, you would likely get a kick in your face by your attackers.Further more,it is eligal for ordinary citizens to carry a concealed (often)double edged blade. I guess that you will have to be a DEA or FBI-agent to go beside that law.
I find it better to carry the knife at belt height.

Wisconsin has no CCW at all. Even if we did, I don't think it would cover concealed knives.

It used to be quite popular, at least, many of my friends carried just that way. I tried it once, and I found it very awkward. Even with boot-cut jeans, it's a hassle.

I haven't seen one in my area for years. But then, you don't see a lot of fixed blade knives here, unless people are out hunting.

Don't wear boots unless they're hiking or hunting boots. Never wore one on my combat boots either. But, for some reason I still buy boot knives. I don't quite understand that one.

Being from Texas, I have several pairs of boots. I do not have any of the classical boot style knives, but I do carry blades with clipps inside the boot just as a way to carry an extra knife. Luckily I have never needed to use a knife for protection and hope that I never have to. It is also easier for carry at work on casual Fridays as the tell-tale clip shows up on the slacks that I have to wear thru the week. I carry a Jester every day since they came out and I does not raise any eyes in the professional atmosphere. Sometimes tho, I just need feeling or added security of the bigger knife. I feel naked w/o one.

I wear US Army boots, jungle boot, all the time. No problems carrying in the boot, it's just a way to have a fixed blade without having strange looks from a sheath.

I sometimes carry a Gerber Guardian under my sweat pants. It holds on my calf with an velco/elastic band.It is to back-up my main carry knife. The leg of the sweatpants can be pulled up very quickly.Illegal......yes but oh well.

hmm

i think my way of wearing a boot knife is different from the way some of you guys do
i clip the sheath to the outside of my right boot, and i secure it around my ankle with quick release straps
this doesn't work if your trousers are tucked into your boots

The very very best boot knife I have found is the CRKT Bear Claw. I wear it clipped to the top of my left motorcycle boot, inverted. It is short enough not to protrude below my pant leg and is very handy when you need it. I have tried many knives suitable for inverted carry and the Bear Claw is the best one, suited for boots, that I have found.

Also, because it is inexpensive, if you loose it you can purchase another one without worry.
