Greetings all,
I have recently got one of the latest "trends" in custom knives... the small forged tactical, as seen in a recent issue of Blade. (the one with Wesley Snipes on the cover) I ended up getting the "Urban Bowie" model from Matt Lamey. A very fine 4&1/2" bowie with a double guard and very ergonomic handle... anyways, I digress. Of course when you have a fine custom knife made, it begs for a fine custom leather sheath from Mr. Kenny Rowe. I had him make me a beautiful gator inlay boot-clip sheath. You can see examples of this in the Blade issue. However, I found that the one I got only works well when clipped into my strong side front or rear pocket due to the direction the handle faces and where the clip is placed. All you have to do is grab the handle and thumb the clip and out she comes. Where I ran into a problem is in trying to clip it horizontally on my belt. I favor this carry method as it is comfortable for me, and easlily covered with an untucked shirt. But with the first sheath, it was "upside down". It could have been in the proper orientation if I clipped it IWB, but I HATE the way that feels.
. So, I did the proper thing and rang Kenny up and ordered a mirror image sheath!
So, (after MUCH rambling...) I ask of you, my fellow forumites... does anybody else have one of these knife/sheath combos? If so, what/whose do you have, and how do you like it? Any comments on the sheath as to where you place it? Also, does anybody have a different type of sheath that they use for this type of knife?
Looking forward to your replies......
