Hey Gents

Since I trust only the opinions of my Busse Crew for the most part ;)

I have a friend with a limited budget who is looking for a boot knife

He was looking at he Cold Steel Counter Tac II

I know Busse makes an 800$ dagger that would be ideal but my friend does not have the cash for it even though i suggested he look for one.

What do you think of the CS Counter Tac II or what other suggestions for a double sided boot knife

Take a look at the kershaw military boot knife, I carried one for years. Or one of the older gerbers, if he has a little more money to spend the zt boot knife is really well made.

Like spider991 said a ESEE3 would make a great boot knife and they do make one with a sharpened clip if you are looking for a decent cutter with a Busse like warranty. Cold steel stuff is ok and for a last ditch knife the Kershaw military boot knife or the ZT boot knife are also great ideas. Also you can look into some of the great makers who are members here many make boot knives. You also might try serching "chute knife" as they are often a smaller double edged clip point knife that would fit the bill nicely.

Nothing beats the Busse dagger, but if budget is limited I'd have a close look at Randall Model 24, 2-4 or 2-5.

That Kershaw is not a bad little blade, one sharpened edge, and its very affordable. Don't know about your laws but double edge is not allowed in some places. I also like the looks of the push daggers of Cold Steel for a budget restricted choice.

Thanks guys and yes thats a Shrike

My KZ2, AK-47, NMFBM and my RMJ are my favorite material possessions in the world :)

Guess it really depends on the actual budget; there are knives priced from $50 to hundreds of dollars listed. That Cold Steel looks like pretty good boot knife in the $50-$60 range. I like my Bear & Son boot knives, and they (788 or 588) can be found in the $30-$50 range.
