boot knife discussion

best to carry and use i would assume

mines a Colt 226 double edge. Ya its 440c steel and M.I.C. but it is sturdy and nice to have. zero practicality unless you want just one more knife on your person

its either that or a Buck Bones with the clip removed, fits nicely in the front of my Red-wings

I hope you get more responses because I am buying 8" boots soon just so I can carry one. I'm going to try out my wilder forge and see how it works out. I have a blackjack neck knife too I may try. Just need the right attachments for a secure fit to the boot.

I had a CRKT Sting, I'm now attempting to sell it. It was a solid little dagger, would probably do the job if you needed it. $38-$50 is a little steep though. For all the complaints about the sheath, I never had a single problem with it.

In all honesty though, one of $17 Smith and Wesson HRT boot knives would work too.

only problem with the HRT, not built for anything more than cutting a juicy steak, learned that the hard way.....

looked kinda like this

I wanted a dagger for the fun of it and got a ZT 0150, it's a pretty nice little knife. Honestly though if I had to do over again I would've got one of the smith and wesson cheapos off ebay for 10 bucks instead.

ETA: I like the look of the schrade boot knife...it's probably a junker though.

Well, if the OP plans to stab someone with it, then all a boot knife needs to have is a sharp point and edge(s). Anything, including cheapos will work fine as a one-use knife. I'd figure that you'd want to lose that knife very quickly -or the police will impound it, if it ever gets used, so the more expensive the knife, the less sense it would make.

IF the OP plans to use that knife for at-work accessibility, then something single bladed and with a more of a belly would make more sense. Perhaps even something with a partial SE would be more useful when cutting materials.

IF the OP wants a knife for outdoors, then definitely a wider bellied knife so it can be used for skinning, food prep and carving/trap-making.

So what kind of "best"?

Wouldn't you want something that you could deploy a bit faster for self defense. Maybe a waved knife or a gun.

mabey but i want somthing a bit more durable like a fixed blade but not as much of a weapon as a gun becasue theres multiple cutting jobs you can do with a knife and only one u can do with a gun

Is legality a concern? Double edged knives are illegal to carry concealed in many parts of the USA.
