Looking for a reasonable quality boot knife with slim enough profile to be comfortable in my boot. Guardian looks high on the list (stock sheath looks practical) and I like the Garm as well but would probably need a custom sheath for it. Looking for recommendations on both a good boot knife and a quality sheath for boot use. There is a sheath maker mentioned on here from time to time, forgot the name.Thanks.

A few years ago Brian Wagner (www.okuden.net) made me a custom kydex boot sheath for a Chris Reeve Shadow III. That was before I was retired from the reserves. The knife itself is probably a bit heavy and bulky for civilian wear, but the sheath was well thought out. If I were interested in a boot knife and rig nowadays, I would choose a Dozier Arkansas Toothpick and ask Brian to make me another sheath.

Hey Guys...

Ed..

Here are a couple of knives that I sheath quite a bit for boot knives

The Kershaw Boot Knife

What you want to look for is a knife that lays flat, with thin or no handles scales...

Drop me a note if you have any questions...

Some good stuff. I actually have a Dozier Toothpick. How do I get into a sheath with belt clip for it. Eric, what kind of clip do you suggest for a boot sheath? Thanks, Ed

A really good boot knife that I didn't know was even a boot knife is the Kalista from BLACKHAWK. It comes with the TCCS. Total concealed carry system. You can carry the knife many, many different ways and different ways just for boot wear too. It comes with the best sheath/system I've ever seen on a production knife. Their other knives come with the system too but might be alittle bulky for the boot, maybe the Razorback would be ok, But the Kalista is totally flat.

Thanks killerskill. What about their Crucible FX? Interesting knife. On a related topic, I experimented a few years ago with taking a quality lockback folder (Al Mar Sere) and carrying it open. If you could imagine taking something like a SOG Pentagon Elite (or any of dozens of other dagger shaped folders) and making a practical boot sheath to carry it OPEN. When not being carried as a fixed blade it still can be carried as a folder. The benefit? You would comply with many jurisdictions laws because technically you are carrying a folder. Just a thought. The other problem is that my boots are high Nike Air Golas in black leather; the most comfortable boot I have ever found, but they have a thick collar around the top. Can a clip be adapted? Thanks to all.

The TTCS that some of the BLACKHAWK blades come with can be addapeted to fit anything. Accually you can just buy the TCCS clips , screws, and paddles and everything without buying the knives. and they can be addapted for any knife with a kydex sheath, just might have to drill a few holes in the kydex sheath to fit but thats easy, and only takes a few seconds. I drilled every knife I had with a kydex sheath to fit the TCCS adaptor plate, and now it's like I have 50 new knives with the way I can carry all of them different then before. Really AWESOME. Just imagine your vavorite knife in kydex that you have, and you used to just carry it on a Tec Lok on your belt, now imagine carrying it anywhere on your body, vertical, crossdraw, small of back that really works, boot. However you want. it's great.
