This is the first boot knife that I've made in a while. I gave it a 6" blade of 276 layer random pattern damascus from 1084 & 15N20. It has a frame tang of NS with ironwood scales. Handle fittings are blued WI & brass spacers.

I thought that the blued fittings worked well with the ironwood. Opinions?

That's a really nice small dagger Gary - I like everything about it.

That looks AWESOME Gary! VERY nice profile and sweet piece of ironwood. The blued fittings look great.

The 6" blade may make it a bit large for a "boot" knife though:D

Thanks for all of the kind words, everyone. I'm glad that you liked it.

It probably is a little large for a boot knife but it had such a 19th century feel to me that it just said boot knife rather than dagger.

always had a soft spot in my heart for boot knives, especially symmetrical daggers.
fortunately, not literally.

I generally don't collect daggers or boot knives, but that one definitely appeals to me in a big way and I would be proud to own a knife like that.

Congrats on a terrific knife!

Hi,
I have a quick question: How did you get such a terrific color and luster of the ironwood?
I polish it to the "glass", but still can't get this look.
Thanks

Once I get it sanded, I coated it with a layer of carnuba wax & buffed it with a soft cotton wheel.

Thats a good looking knife Gary looks like you put some texture on the frame and that wood is real nice.
