Boot knives

You just need the right sort of boot - fairly stiff and at least calf-length - too short or floppy won't work. Most of the bootknife sheaths I've seen have some sort of clip that hook onto the top of the boot. I was recently introduced to a kilted Scotsman who wore a ceremonial dirk tucked inside his socks - not sure if that qualifies as a boot knife but I reckon it's close enough.

I don't really see the attraction of boot knives. Seems like it'd be a bit uncomfortable with it in there.

I have a cold steel braveheart that I've put on a boot just to see if it would work that way, and it did just fine. It's illegal in my area to carry concealed without a permit so I didn't walk around in it, but it seemed comfortable enough. THe sheath has a clip which attaches to the boot, and holes that I wove paracord through to tie to my leg as a bit of extra support. I don't see why you would need it though, why conceal it that way for edc? And for tactical it is awfully hard to access quickly.

See what Rebecca Dresser has to say in section "THE KNIFE I CARRY" - p18 of Blade 2009 - she just might change your mind. I wouldn't go jogging with one but reckon they're a lot more comfy than a belt knife when at the poker table

She was kinda cute too ;)

I carried a CS small Counter Tac on my biker boots for about 6 months... great rig, low weight. Just gotta tweak the fit of the sheath over a low flame for a better draw.

I always liked boot knives and own several, just not for wearing in your boot. :p

I mean, they are generally handy little dagger bladed knives, excellent for concealled carry, but having your knife stuck in the top of your boot always seemed one of the worse and most inconvenient places to carry it to me. Luckily, most boot knives also carry well IWB and some of them (like the Kershaw Military) even come with shoulder rigs.

I had mine mounted tip up. Just yank the handle. No need to pull up your pant to clear your draw:)

Ofter, I carry a Texas toothpick in a clip on leather sheath inside the top of my cowboy boots. It works great.
