Boot sheaths for Busse's?

I've never seen a good, effective, boot sheath because the clips never work right. The sheath will either come out with the knife or the sheath wont stay put. Has anyone custom made some nice boot sheaths...preferably kydex...for Busse's?

Thanks

NiteIze eCLIPse - I stuck one to a kydex plate that fits sheaths measured for Tek-loks. It's narrow (~1cm), only ~4cm long, and has excellent traction, in fact it's enough to tear a hole in thin fabric if you tug to hard (as a friend of mine discovered)

I don't have pics, but I came up with something real nice for a cupidvore. I took a standard owb steel holster clip & drilled it to fit an Al Welke taco sheath. The clip was a beefy one I had on an old crap holster that was headed to the garbage, so I salvaged it. The key to a good boot knife setup is good retention, but also a knife light enough that it isn't too much for the boot it's bein' carried on. Needless to say, I've got big hopes for the dog booty. On an aside, I've installed the same clip on a rodent solution, & it carries pretty well in a boot too, but due ot size, it carries better outside the boot instead of inside.

I use the ESEE 5/6 clips on all medium to small Kydex.
If you clip it to the top of your boot and add a length of 550 on the bottom of the sheath,
you can go around your ankle once and your set.

When I was a kid, boot knives were so cool.

I'm not so sure I can see the purpose of carrying the knife in/on a boot with so many other options that are better IMHO.

I remember why I thought they were so cool then. Please help me see why I should consider boot carry again.

I also thought carrying money in my shoes was cool and wanted those "money belts".

emt, didn't see this before.

Hey, i'll go one further, i'd like a "boot sheath" that can securely connect to my ankle holster.

Welp, I took a couple pics for ya.

This can go straight from belt to boot or even pocket carry. I drilled the clip to accept chicago screws & hold 'em in place with the rubber spacer grommets. It works like a teklok that'll clip to yer boot. Sorry for the Scrapyard content here in hogland, :D but it's the only setup like this I've got. Hope the pics help!

That is awesome. What is it called and where did you get it?

Straight outta ingenuity my friend! Came off a an old knock off, uncle mike's holster I was gonna throw out. The clip I used actually has better strength & retention than the one's on uncle mike's holsters though. The holster was crap but I wanted to try my hand at a Bussekin bootknife setup & that's what was born. I think I used a 3/16" drill & basically drilled it to match the standard 1/4" hole pattern on a teklok. It melts into a boot & rides surprisingly comfortable with no movement whatsoever. I gotta give you some credit though! Your clip photos actually were a lot of my inspiration man!

The design of that clip looks perfect, I'm gonna try to find the maker.

Look for the one's with the raised circle pictured. It gives the whole thing a sturdier, more rigid backbone.

Awesome man! You'll love 'em! Easy to set up & downright awesome to use! bein' a clip guy, you'll dig 'em, I promise! Oh by the way, the pic showin' the side view will help ya alot with setup. Use the female part of the chicago screw inside the clip, put the rubber washers on the female part between the clip & the sheath, & watch your length on the male screw or it'll eat up your belt or boot.

So that clip will slide over and grip to a 1/2" to 3/4" lip on the top of a combat boot?

Thanks

I've worn it on my Northface Ballard boots, Wolverine steel toed hikers, & Bates, current issued desert boots without any issues whatsoever. When my dog booty gets here, I will be switchin' the clip over to it as I've really been lookin' forward to this knife since it was at blade.

At a buck sixty each its worth a try.
I'm looking at them as an alternative to a teklok for waist carry without a belt.

It also fits my 5.11 1 3/4" Operator belt, as well as a Propper BDU belt. Wants to slide some on the Propper though.

The regular gun clips from Tandy have been pretty heavy duty for my sheaths as well.

I use them for pocket carry, so just the top of the knife handle shows, and the clip.

I have never really found a boot "clip" sheath to be comfortable, or quick to access.

I'm as interested in the sheath, however.

i want something inverted, with positive retention (even when running), but minimum hassle to "release" if necessary.

PS with cord-lock.jpg

Use a kydex sheath. Add a SKDS from Rainwalker (or something similar). Then add a properly sized snap loop or cord/cord-lock to the SKDS for additional but easily removable security for the grip. In the picture, I quickly added a cord with cord-lock to show what I am describing. If I were to use this for real, I'd use a different cord-lock released from top or bottom instead of the side.

With the right knife, an IWB rubber loop can be attached to hold the knife in the sheath. If you search diligently, you can find some Buy Brown kydex sheaths employing this idea.

Leather can be made however you want, also.

How about a side-release-buckle? Attach half to the sheath and half to the lanyard hole on the knife. Adjust length. Oh no!!! Here comes the part where I have to try this.

I still don't understand the desire for a boot sheath. The movies always had someone pulling one out in bar fights.

Since my feet are often walking through water, mud, brush, briars, etc., that's not the optimum location for me. Also, I like to carry knives where they can be reached more easily.
