I'm not as up on these as I am on knives. I picked up a pair of Bates boots for my son for Christmas and wanted to see if anyonee could give me some info on them. They are the GX-8 Gore Tex w/composite toe. Also picked him up a couple pairs of Tru Spec 24/7 pants, all cotton. Any comment on this brand? I will say that I wear some of the 5.11 pants, but I believe I like the TruSpec's and plan on trying a pair after Christmas is over.

Btw, my son is a volunteer fireman working on his EMT certification, and told me what to get.....I'm just curious.:)

Here is a description on the Bates boots;

Tru-Spec is a long standing good quality brand name company for BDU style gear. The synthetic blend pants seem to last a little longer but, the cotton is cooler in hot areas.

Those boots are a pretty standard item in "work gear" stores. Boots are really personal and subjective so, unless two people have the same feet they will rate the same boots differently. It also depends on how you will use your boots.

I picked up a pair of Bates warm weather Gore Tex Marine warm weather boots on ebay. They are totally awesome. They are the best boots I've owned .

Thanks for the replies guys. The thing I like about the Bates boots is the side zip, allowing you to get them on your feet in record time.

first off, CONGRATS on your son going for EMT cert!

Truspec are a very good company, as is BATES. If you ever have an issue with their products, contact the Companies. You will be taken care of.

Thanks for the info Bushman! The boots had to be ordered onlne and should be here Monday.

Truespec pants are great. I like the polyester/cotton blend. I have had a couple of pairs for 5+ years and they are finally showing some fading. Very well made.
