I did a minimalist scout today up north in the boreal forest.
-One knife
-One folding saw
-Nalgene bottle
-Titanium cup
-Map / compass
-Backpack
As a challange I chose a far away lake on google maps and decided to try to reach in with only map and compass.
I have to say that it was quite a challenge but after a long hike I found that lake ! As a bonus I saw a nice deer.
All in all it was a great exploration of an area I was not familiar with.

Please post your adventures !

Here is the vid for those interested:

Looks like a pleasurable romp bud, good for you. I still have 3 reusable grocery bags filled with Birch paper bark from this years northern trips.

I'm ashamed to say that the knife is a moded cold steel gi tanto
Not very high class

But do you really care ? :) I bet that the steel composition and heat treat are higher end compared to what the traders used in the 1700's. I wish you peace and pleasure in your outdoor forays.

Yes fall is a beautiful season
Not too cold or warm
Less vegetation so easier to travel

You are right concerning the steel of this knife... it is good enough to do what is needed
