For those that have been looking for one of these treasures, there's a piece on that auction site and the auction ends today. Search under Reece (that's why it didn't show up in your favorites! :D) Bose.

This has been a public service announcment.:)

I see the starting bid is set at $1700, but that no one has bid, with only 12 hours to go. I'm not familiar with Bose prices. Is this really what they go for new, or is the starting bid out of line?

I've admired the Bose knife thread for some time now, but been too afraid to ask about pricing. They both make some gorgeous knives.

Rob,IMO & certainly not an expert, but, the start bid is not out of line
The Rem bone is a limited supply material, certainly a factor
For some reason, high start bids on the bay, make for slower bidding action.Bladeshow bearing down upon the collectors, plus,I've noticed that fella's who already own some Bose knives, get more interested in finding patterns they like
That one certainly is a really nice pattern & knife,a gent's type
You get what you pay for,it's an hierloom piece,& even in used condition, the value stays
-Vince

BTW,Reese's knives are as close to perfection as any,& for sure, was schooled by THE BEST :D no argument there

Thanks VCM3. I'm not doubting the price at all, just trying to learn about Bose knives and bring myself up to speed on traditional pocketknives in general. It's been an interesting education, and I'm meeting a lot of great people along the way. Thanks for the information.

This trip to Blade will be my first time where I am actually looking for a nice custom slipjoint. After the first trip to blade in 2002 where I employed the 'scattershot' technique to collecting I've stuck to a few production and semi-production makers and I always get a few custom straight blades from my native South Carolina knife makers. That leaves many makers to choose from and quality is getting better and better from these guys. I have an idea what style and material I want in a folder and I'll scope out a few in my price range before nabbing one or two. The makers here on BF have already got my eyes glazed over from studying the great pieces displayed in these threads. I'm like a kid in a candy store at Blade, I hope I can hold my focus and get a nice knife. See ya there!

Folks, we don't permit "auction spotting" with or without the link.

No harm done but we're not going to begin using the forum for buying alerts.

The following guidelines are an excerpt from those posted at the top of the page in a sticky:

Guidelines Regarding eBay

"Auction spotting," or posts in the form of directing people to a knife or particular auction on eBay are not allowed. If you're in any doubt at all wait until the auction has ended then nobody can accuse you of shilling.

These rules were established by the owner of this site and have been in place for a good while.

Thanks for your cooperation.
