What do you guys think about this for my first Busse?

No choil, Muddy blade, with red & black g10/ or maybe orange and black g10... cant decide.

Does anyone use their Boss Jack? Is it big enough to kill snakes with? Im not a fan of nonblack wild snakes and certainly dont want to get bitten. haha

Im thinking it will fill a woods/survial/hunting role very well.

Ive never bought a Busse or bussekin (other than a scrapivore which is on the way) and am new to this strange collecting game. I want one to use. really whack on it hard.

Does anyone know an estimate or what busse knife group model will be released next? I was thinking about getting a scrapyard or swamprat to wail on but then again maybe i should cut the bull and go straight for the infi. Ive seen some impressive feats..

Orange and black with mud.

As for "snake killer", I wouldn't use my B11 for that task, much less a 6" blade as you're within striking distance at that point.

A combat grade BOSS Jack would be a PERFECT first Busse :thumbup::thumbup:

I bet youd be kicking yourself if you passed this one up - the Jack family has been one of the most loved patterns and is just a great "Goldilocks" blade - not too big, not too small, not too heavy yet still bomb-proof.

How can you go wrong with Busse direct pricing and getting to choose what colors/slabs you want?

The best part is that if you buy it and totally hate it, you can get most, if not all, of your $$$ back by selling it on the exchange...

As far as next releases: seems like the new Basics (4, 6, 8 and 10) and Light Brigades might be it as they were unveiled a month ago at blade. If you pick up a Basic 10 to be paired with the CG Boss Jack, you could do ANYTHING you ever could need a knife to do...

Tan canvas looks sweet with muddy blades, plus it has more grip texture than G10.

Get a Waki or a Taurus Judge loaded with snakeshot forkillin snakes.

+1,000,000

My muddy/tan should be here today or tomorrow and I'll post some pics - its my favorite combo next to bama clay/tan and sage/tan.

I agree also on canvas micarta over G10 - it gives me a better grip, especially when wet.

Swamp Rat has done several Red/Black G-10 with Muddy and I think it looks good.

I think the red and black looks better with the muddy blade. So the micarta gives a better grip? im thinking sage and black canvas now instead. I must admit im looking for a busse to be a toy. I do go hunting and camping ect but im mostly looking for a indestructible busse to play with.

the light brigade lookd pretty niffty im sure those are going to be a big hit when they launch.

I will have to pick up a basic 10 that is such a classic.

So no1 has anything bad to say about the boss jack as a user? Handle good size? feels good in hand?

I love my BJLE. Not too heavy, not too light, and it looks fabulous in satin with black paper.

I may be in the minority here, but to me the G10 feels to "plasticy" (I don't think that's a real word)...anyway I prefer the micarta (either paper or canvas) handles because they feel warmer in the cold & wet.

No, it's an awesome mid-sized knife. One of Busse's best designs ever IMO. It will be a classic.

Mine should be waiting for me at home today! I'm pumped!

Those who have both, how do they compare to the satin protos from Blade 2010?

I totally agree.

6" blades are just perfection and I've been waiting for a "lighter" Busse to replace my ESEE-6 in this size category.

The BJ should be just the ticket when you dont want to carry a blade the size of a NMSFNO/FSH or a heavy little sucker like the TankBuster or ASH1...

Actually just picked up another CG BJ on the X a few hours ago - swore I wouldnt buy anything other than another TankBuster until the next Busse offering, but just couldnt pass it up...

Comparing the BJLE to the Proto, the BJLE is a little thinner with less thickness behind the edge (better grind) and better machining texture on the handle slabs than the proto. As with all Busse protos that I've seen, the production version is an improvement. I'm still waitng on my CG BJ to arrive.

Just pulled the trigger on one a little while ago. Muddy with tan canvas. Now i just need a teclok and kydex for it

That is my exact Boss Jack and my user for most day-hiking trips. It's a great knife for carry in the woods and has done everything I've asked of it. I carry it in an Al Welke kydex sheath with a large Teklok.

Wow, those Muddy BJ's ARE VERY nice looking!!! Hadn't seen much Mud lately and they are very nice for sure...

My boss jack hasnt even gotten here yet and i want a waki and that swamprat hawk to keep it company. especially that hawk!! i dont even use axes
