I like the look of the pumpkin g10 with the sage blade, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $$. I've also heard/ seen pics of busse g10 giving people blisters, so they have to smooth the g10. If i'm just going to make my bj a user, should I just go with the cheaper micarta? what would you guys do?

For a user - go with the micarta. It's less slippery when wet than G-10 and easier to mod (smooth the sharper edges for example)
I love the feel of busse micarta and to me it conducts vibrations less than G-10.

I like Black Canvas Micarta for a user. For that matter, I like Black Canvas Micarta, period. The appearance of the Satin/Black Canvas combo is superior to most of the others, in my opinion.

Get what you like. I have both, use both and like both. They're not that different.

I get black G10 cuz it's what I like the looks of. It works well wet or dry and digs in good in my callouses. But, as was already stated, get what you like. It will work.

one of the benefits of g10 over micarta is that it doesn't readily soak up oil or water. It will to a very, very slight degree, but it's made of fibrerglass and resin, neither of which take on water. With canvas micarta, you'll see it darken up as the fabric takes on moisture. not really a problem, but I like the idea that fluids and oils are less likely to reside in my handle scales.

Go with the pumpkin if that's what you like. Mine is a user with pumpkin G10. The edges aren't sharp at all. They're quite rounded and I'd never expect, or have experienced any hot points. G10 can be sanded quite easily too. If there's a point on the scales you don't like, just hit it with sand paper. I doubt it though. I think the look was worth the extra bucks. Plus, what Last Visible said... I don't like my grips soaking anything up.

get pumpkin bro

Micarta certainly feels better, but as stated it does soak up liquids. I really like fat G-10.

You can always hit the sharp points with super fine grit wet/dry sandpaper. That's what I did to my SAR-3.

I've got a pumpkin BJCG and it is easily the most ergonomic of any cutlery I've handled. I can't speak for others, but I've had no (nor do I anticipate any) issues with the g-10 giving me blisters.
Fact that it doesn't soak up liquids is another plus for g-10 handles.

If pumpkin is the look you want, then definitely get it!

i agree with the black micarta. its great. i like the natural texture of the micarta versus the almost plastic feel of the g10

Get what you want Bro, but as stated before the G-10 will not absorb liquids, blood, oil etc. If you need to knock down the little sharp knobs hit it a few licks with some fine sandpaper. Micarta will need to be washed in soapy water to clean up the blood and oil, hand or otherwise!!!
