I have a Jack I am lost on.....

I don't recall when I purchased it, but it was from Knob Creek. Memory fails me as to the year, but "think" it was prior to the Boss Jack release...... around the same time as the SHBM and Mean Streets were re-released in very limited numbers.

.245 thick, clip point Black crinkle coat, Black g10 or paper handle. What are the tell tale signs between the two? Thickness, Ricasso length? New BUSSE etch.

That is a Satin Jack friend!!
I'll take it!!! :D

I think the ricasso is larger on the SJ.

Might be easier to determine with a straight down shot if no one who attended speaks up soon. :)

If I had to guess... I'll guess SJ. Seems that the only real identifiable way at least from pix is how far in the handle goes under the finger guard, and the space on each side of the top tube fastener. :) Perhaps the top of the scale ending under the Talon hole might be another for SJ's, but I don't know how consistent that is on both models.

ETA: I believe stjones is also correct on ricasso size being larger (longer?) on the Satin Jack too. :)

Definitely one of the fakes we were warned about. Send it to me for disposal. :-)

Just occured to me that I also have 2 "newer" SJ's from 2 different KC shows. One has that style logo, but is 3/16" with a sabre hollow ground blade (did I describe it correctly? :o;)). The satin one is approx. .25". Here's an old pic for comparison.

They are the 2 bottom ones:

There's the ricasso length as stj pointed out. Biggest sign there. Well, more precisely, it's how far front the handle scales extend. That's the difference that clues me in, the shape of the scales themselves. The BOSS Jack's scales have more curves and cutouts: one around the talon hole, and another at the top rear. I believe the SJ's also a little thinner at the handle right behind the guard.

Thanks for the information!

Since it might be fake, UDDwaine....I wouldn't want you to suffer the humiliation of owning an imposter. So I will just throw it away:D

All kinds of stuff shows up at Knob Creek. You should consider coming again Gravelface. Sure would be nice to see you again.

Garth

I "found" it in the spare room recently. Forgot I owned it till cleaning up. Now if I can find my lost mean street, I would be thrilled.

Garth!!! You know I would make it if I could, now that I took the Police job....I am next to broke. Happy and broke or miserable and less broke working at the Oil Refinery. But we will be back. I need to bring my friend again, his camp tramp was confiscated by TSA.

Well Gravelface whenever that day comes that you make it back to a show the first few rounds are on me my friend. It has been too long.

Garth
