My BOSS Jacks arrived. One CG and one LE (but in double cut finish, to fit my collection). My first impression was how light the LE felt, so took out my kitchen scales: The CG with G10 scales is 11.7 oz, the LE with canvas micarta is only 9.7 oz - this means my CG is about 20% heavier than the LE    I am not sure to which extent the G10 is responsible for the huge weight difference, and to which extent the different grinds. Maybe someone can enlighten me here.

The overall balance and feel is great for both knives. After holding the LE for a minute I thought to myself: "Get another one without choil and have the top sharpened (similar to the false edge on the urban grudge). This would make a helluva fighter." My finger fits the choil nicely and gererally I am a "pro-choil" user. So I am happy I got them with choil. But this fighter mod will keep my mind occupied for a while I guess...

Thank you Amy for a sensational customer service and thank you Beef for your scary sharpening skills!

And here the pics:

Great pics and use them in good health!!!!

The BJ is one of my favorites as well and I'm pretty sure I'll wind up ordering another - I don't own and Busse duplicates, but the BJ is so nice that its very very tempting.

I cant remember who posted a pic - was it Jaxx?? - who had a BJ that had a sharpened swedge added and it looked great - I think aesthetically a clip point would add a lot.

The three factors leading to heavier weight are the G10, the thicker convex grind, and the thicker stock. Even though the difference between 3/16" and 1/4" doesn't seem like much, that 1/16" plate of steel in the handle will add up and change the feel of the knife a lot. If you put canvas scales on the CG, it would still be noticably heavier than the LE, but you might drop a half ounce. Even then, 11.1oz vs. 9.7oz is still noticable.

Double Cut finish? I remember reading about this but I forget what it means. I wonder why they went with the saber grind for the LE. Would they make one for me with a full convex grind? I wonder if that cost more. Also are your micarta scales standard? They look smooth to me. Very nice knives by the way.

Thanks LVC for clarification. I actually forgot that they are made from different stock thickness. It is not really visible - even in the spine shot above -, but for sure it adds weight.

Drivebytrucker: "Double cut" means "bead blasted". The micarta scales are the standard from the current offering. For any questions concerning customizations and prices I have to refer you to Busse Combat. Just drop them an Email or give them a call and they will take care of you
