Boss Street Availability

Hello,

I'm a newb here so sorry if this question is already answered elsewhere..

I read on another forum that the BOSS Street from Busse is always available now. Is this true? I see that the BOSS L.E. (Light Edition) is available, but I am assuming this is a thinner blade version. I just want the standard thickness.

Is this true that the regular BOSS Street model is always available, or do I have to wait until the L.E. editions sell out?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. :)

It just disappeared from the Busse website yesterday (early this a.m. actually). You might want to call the shop tomorrow and see if you can get in on the tail end of the orders for the regular Boss Street.

Good to know, thanks - will do!

Also, I was just curious, is the appeal of the LE edition just to cut down on the overall weight? Or is it also to make the blade easier to sharpen?

For me the appeal of the CABS LE is as a bushcraft blade, which is typically a thinner blade.
It is lighter to pack, works well at woodcraft, and is a good slicer for food prep.

I think the appeal for the LE is because options were added for the choil and it is thin. Many here asked for both and they delivered!
You don't often see a .145 blade from Busse Combat.

The LE is also usually satin and a fancier handle. Its a prettier knife. and also without the coating they are thinner which is sometimes desirable.

This particular le version has several major changes that effectively make it a totally different knife.

The stock thickness is dramatically reduced making it better for slicing, things will have less drag and need to be spread apart less as the blade passes through them. The grind has been made into a full flat instead of a high convex saber, again giving it better slicing geometry. the edge has been reduced in thickness, and the tip is the same thickness as the edge - the standard version had a massively thick tip in an attempt to protect it from gross damage on hard impact. Though there is a small choil version, the choiless version adds a small amount of edge and reduces the potential for snagging when cutting things like netting and loose fabrics.

It's a very, very different knife.

Thanks for the very clear explanation! It sounds nice, but I think I'll get the standard "bomb-proof" edition first. And if I can ever afford to get a second Busse, maybe this one will be it!

Good idea! I just got one to use as a pattern knife for sheaths.... MAN..... I love this thing! So, I ordered the LE version too.... but CABS model.

Great stuff from a great company!

...in a very good way.:)

I'd still be interested in knowing if Jerry upped the hardness on the ABSs as he did on the BADs. Any word on that yet?
