Boss Street - Choil Question ?

Hi everyone. I'm thinking about getting a Boss Street as my first Busse. I like the particular size/style of this knife (and have quite a few knives in this size range). I use these knives in the field on everything from general camp choirs to skinning big game.
I like a finger choil for this type of knife. The choil on the Boss Street is different than some of my other knives (such as a ESEE 4). Its not as big as on the ESEE. I wonder if this cramps the finger when using the Boss Street ? I wear Large to exra Large size gloves - - depending on the particular brand.
Any photos you have showing the Busse while using the finger choil would be appriciateds, as would your comments. - Thanks

it's not remotely big enough to use as a finger choil, you'll have to just grip the guard.

Have you considered a Boss Jack with large choil? It's similar if length to your ESEE4?

Thank you for taking the time to post the excellent pics - very kind of you.
A pic is worth a thousand words !

I don't know that much about Busse knives and will look into the Boss Jack. (also I think I recall seeing a photo of a Boss Street with a large choil - but maybe it was a prototype ?) I like a finger choil for doing some fine tasks, especially when using in the field on big game.

Maybe folks can also answer another question for me please. My ESEE 4 (and the RC 4 I got earlier) are good field knives and great bang for the buck. I like 1095 for this type knife/application. 1095 doesnt have the greatest lateral strength; a guy did a destruction test on a RC-4 and while it did great on all the cutting tasks (for its 4" size) it broke laterally pretty easily. I've heard some great things about INFI and its durability as a field knife. How's its lateral strength ? (Knives aren't crowbars, but sometimes an emergency may require that it be put to the test. That's why I'm interested in the Busse - their reputation as one of the toughest working field knives out there.) Thanks again guys !

One you might consider is the Swamp Rat RatManDu, it has a five inch blade and a right sized finger choil, and its currently available for order.

Swamp Rat is a part of Busse Combat and carries the same reputation.

a BOSS Jack would serve you very well, and the supply and price of them on the Exchange is as good as it'll likely ever be...

honestly - try a BOSS Jack, it's the right size and shape IMO - esp for gloves, and you can always sell/trade it if the fit isn't right.

it's about as close to being a prybar as you can get at 58-60rc. Infi is designed to get as much abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and hardness while maintaining the maximum possible malleability, toughness and strength. As a result, at 58-60rc it is at the top of the industry for those three traits, and pretty good for the other three.

There are harder knives with better abrasion resistance, with more stable edges at thin cross sections, with better corrosion resistance, but few to none that have all of the traits with the three core goals (malleability, toughness and strength (at high hardness)) at the same time.
