So, when they came out, I bought a BOSS Street. Awesome blade, awesome handle, just a great knife. However, I prefer my users uncoated, but I like to use them a bit first, as I do not like to start grinding on a new blade. I was planning to strip and convex the edge, but just never got around to doing it because I hadn't used it yet.
Then I saw 230grains post(thanks!) of his user for sale, stating that the edge was way worn down from repeated sharpenings. Perfect I thought, as I planned to convex the edge until the choil was gone anyway.
So, I purchased 230grains BOSS Street(thanks again). Usually I strip the blade before grinding, but I could not find my stripper, and I was in a hurry, so out came the coarse belts. It cleaned up so well that I did not take it all the way past the choil. I plan to use it awhile, then continue to mod it in steps.
Stage 2 will probably be to strip off the rest of the coating, and grind on the edge some more.
After using it for a while, I will know if I need a Stage 3 for handle/butt mods.
Here are some before pics, its on the right next to the new one.
Here it is ready to grind on!
Here are some after pics, 1st stage, blade is now convexed, medium Scotchbrite belt finish.
