Picked up a 420HC 112 today from a brick and mortar shop. According to the time code (112+) it was made in 1991? Blast from the past!

Everything is in perfect condition. I remember something about the Buck 420HC steel being softer in the past compared to the 58-60 HRC today?

I am waiting for a 113 next to have a folder-fixed combo.

Nice! I need to get myself another 112...I've needed to replace one for awhile and the last one I got I cheaped out and got a 112 Slim Select and it's just not that same.

Buck 112 Rangers are about as much knife as I will pocket carry before switching to a belt sheath. That knife always amazes me at how easy it carries, yet how much blade it has and how capable it is for big chores - just a great design for a knife. OH

Nice! This is how I am hoping mine arrives. When I got my latest one the front bolster finger guess looked rounded like a 110, and the blade was ground way to much. The butt was all lopsided. Most likely a late Friday or early Monday manufacture.

I do love the 112 and Buck knives and the human element though. It adds a bit of personality to each knife.

kobold kobold The OP's premise (of finding NOS Buck Knives) isn't far-fetched at all. According to my notes, I bought several 2008 & 2009 NIB/NOS Bucks (including the 112FG above) from a gunshop in April 2016. They had found a box containing a number of Buck Knives from back when they had a Buck Knife display, they discounted the price on the NOS Bucks too, I did my part to help them move the old inventory! OH
