It says it's 304 grade stainless steel , will I be able to boil water in it , I ask because it says single walled bottles are not suitable for hot drinks ?

As long as it doesnt have any kind of plastic or chemical lining I dont see why not. A warning like that is to keep window lickers from pouring boiling liquids into it and trying to handle it. Double layer would be insulated.

Oh I see. In other words I can boil water in it , it'll hold up. Of course I didn't wanna handle it until said water cooled down. No there's no plastic liner just stainless steel. I know this was maybe a stupid question , but better safe then sorry hey.

Yah there shouldnt be any reason why that bottle would give you any trouble. If the cap is plastic you might want to take that off. I made that mistake when i was 17 haha.

Yup, not meant for hot liquids because it will be too hot to handle with boiling hot water in it but doesn't mean you can't boil water in it.
But I think it can be a problem to boil water in a double walled canteen? Some one else who has tried will know better or a search on the ol google

Never boiled anything in a double wall but i feel like the expanding airspace could possibly make a split or a burst? Maybe?

Yeah lets clear this right up . 1) Your NEVER boil anything in a double walled container of any type . 2) You NEVER try to boil water in anything with a sealed cap . A pot with a loose lid is fine , but never with some tight fitting top or cap !

Either of those 2 things will cause the container to explode and the hot contents to spray everywhere .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

Yea. They always say single walled SS canteens are not suitable for hot drinks due to burn risks. With a cup there is a handle but people grasp canteens by the sides sometimes even when they know it is too hot. A moment of distraction and yikes! Happened to me anyways.

Also +1 on what Mike just said.

I would like to say until recently I never heard of boiling water in your drinking canteen
I know it has been made popular by a certain uTube person

Why risk damaging your water bottle, a most important piece of equipment
Damage it and result not being able to carry water?

Carry a billy can, an old tin can from food, anything that holds water to heat water
But please do not stuff your canteen in the fire???

Also, I wouldn't boil water in an SS bottle if it has a built-in plastic part on the top (I've got some that are metal with plastic lids, but some that are metal and have a plastic threaded portion made into the bottle that interfaces with the plastic lid).

One more tidbit - if you put super-hot water into a single-walled stainless bottle, you can put the lid on it and put it in between a sleeping bag and fleece liner and it will keep you warm for a loooong time.

How do you think you're going to damage it?

Because water bottles are manufactured seemless, does this mean they are designed to heat in direct fire?
I presume the stress of heating and cooling in fire on a 'closed' tube of metal will create a wear and tear that will weaken the bottle

Or
Is this a similar question to modern production full tang knives, where the usage possiblities are extended due to better production and materials?

Bottle is single wall , all stainless. The only plastic bit is the lid. I have two others , the thread that the lid screws into is also metal.
